We just couldn’t help ourselves and wanted to share some of our pet fun and ‘Happy Tails’ (when pets get adopted), feel free to email us with your Happy Tails so we can add to our social or website.
Lottie
Lottie’s Happy Tail – Lottie has taken us in as her forever family! She quickly adapted to her new surroundings, routine, and people! She is a sweet girl who loves, loves, loves chasing balls, her walks, and rides in the car! Her infinite joy chasing balls is catching! She keeps us laughing with her multiple little soft sounds, letting us know what she thinks! This affectionate, independent little girl is such a sweet and amazingly good dog. She has wholeheartedly accepted us into her pack and stolen our hearts!
Gigi
Gigi’s Happy Tail – Look at Gigi! She’s quite settled in and chilling on the couch with her toys. Plus Mom takes her around town for new sights & smells. Ain’t life grand when you have a home and family that loves you?
Aileen
Aileen’s HappyTail – Mystic (FKA Aileen) is doing great. Almost totally potty trained. She woke us up at 6:30 AM to let us know she had to go out. We just took our first car trip to visit our new granddaughter. Mystic is so gentle and aware.
Venus
Venus’ Happy Tail – Poppy (FKA Venus) is doing amazing! She loves her brother and playing with him in the backyard. She loves going on walks and we recently just went on a big roadtrip together. She loved having her head out the window!! A few months ago, she had a surgery done to fix her frequent UTIs. She truly is the piece our family was missing and we love every second of our time with her!
Moe (L) & Thelma (R)
Moe’s & Thelma’s Happy Tails – Vanilla Bean, or Mr. Bean, (FKA Moe, tuxedo) and Harper (FKA Thelma, tabby) have settled into a comfortable groove. Mr. Bean, initially quite scared, now charms while honing his opposable thumbs to open cabinets and drawers throughout the house. Harper enjoys egging on Mr. Bean for a chase when she isn’t studying the lizards outside the windows.
Bambi
Bambi’s Happy Tail – Great news about Maddie (FKA Bambi)! Getting her shaved and de-matted made all the difference – her temperament has truly turned around. We’ve also learned so much about her: she’s a high-energy, intelligent, and absolutely lovable dog.
Pumpkin
Pumpkin’s Happy Tail – This is Gabe’s (FKA Pumpkin) story. I went to drop off some supplies at Bay Area Pet Adoptions in San Leon which I found out about thru a friend. Having recently lost my precious cat Zeke, I thought I needed some more time before looking for a new fur baby. While at the shelter, my arm was twisted to go on a blind date with a recent surrender whose owner had passed away. Both parties involved on this set-up were extremely reluctant to say the least. After a couple more meet-ups, we decided to give it a try. Ten weeks later I can honestly say that after a quick engagement and just as quick “I Do” this Blind Date was a win-win. I think we skipped the ‘honeymoon’ and settled right into the comfortable friends stage. Thank you Bay Area Pet Adoptions for my new fur baby.
Batman-Ivy-Harley
Batman’s, Ivy’s, & Harley’s Happy Tails – Just wanted to share updates about how the little tux siblings have been since we have taken them home. Batman is 1000000% a momma’s boy. He tolerates my partner, but I am the clear favorite like it’s not even close. Ivy is a cuddle bug and sleeps on one of us most nights and loves making biscuits at 3 AM on our backs. We love it, too. Harley took a little to settle in with us, but has found her stride and loves watching the birds through the window with her siblings. She lets us pet her and hold her now though you can tell it’s just for the treats. We mostly respect the “love from afar” policy, but do get some kisses in. She thrives at night when our 6-year-old is asleep and honestly same here. We did throw them a birthday party in March, but they couldn’t care less. They tolerated the hats for the fish and snuggles. They are all so different and special to us. Thanks again for letting us be their furever family. We have decided we are a tux family for life after having 3 purfect ones. 🤍🖤
Shadow & Luna
Shadow’s & Luna’s Happy Tails – Luna (tabby) and Shadow (tuxedo) are doing great. Shadow has put on a little bit of weight so he is going on a little diet since he has gotten a bit too round 😅 Luna is loving the apartment; since day one of moving in to the new place in April, she has walked around like she owns the place. I also recently got them a laser, and they get their daily exercise with that, lol. Also once I brought them home from the shelter, Luna’s personality changed again, she no longer hisses at Shadow like she would hiss at the other cats in the shelter, I’ve even caught Shadow grooming her. I also think she may have some food allergies and so the food that I switched them to has turkey as the main ingredient, and it seems to have helped her watery eyes, but she has been very picky and meows at me when she doesn’t like a particular brand unlike Shadow as he will eat anything!
Zazu
Zazu’s Happy Tail – Taco (FKA Zazu) is doing really great ! He is very friendly and loves to play and quickly introduce himself to everyone in the house.
Gideon
Gideon’s Happy Tail – We adopted Henry (FKA Gideon) and he’s just wonderful! He fits so well in our household that it feels like he’s always been here. I love how he follows me around. He enjoys his walks and the backyard. He loves chasing squirrels and lizards! We so appreciate all of the excellent work and care he received at the shelter. Thank you! We are very grateful.
Archie
Archie’s Happy Tail – Arnold (FKA Archie) fits perfectly into our family! He is thriving & his favorite place is on the couch or in the bed. He is the sweetest boy with the cutest puppy dog eyes & we just adore him! He also has a natural Mohawk that makes everyone smile. We can’t imagine life without him!
Patty (L) & Neptune (R)
Patty’s & Neptune’s Happy Tails – I am so happy with the babies here! So far with about a month of ownership, Neptune is lively and wants to play, but both of them are incredibly snuggly and love to have a good cuddle. They also play with each other on a daily basis and have fun together! I’m definitely happy I got them both, and my life has been significantly brighter with them around.
Casper
Casper’s Happy Tail – Sparky (FKA Casper), is doing great! He has a very different personality than the one you guys saw at the adoption center. He is very active and happy. I wish you could have seen him when we got him home. We took him straight to the back and he ran from one end of the yard to the other at 100 MPH and then straight to the patio to be let in the house. It was like this was what he knew and was so happy to have it again. At some point, he was from a caring home as he was trained to sit, lay down, and he will fetch the ball – and now (after a little practice) will bring it all the way back to you. He can jump straight up as high as a doorknob and loves his toys. He carries them around with him most of the time.
Tigger
Tigger’s Happy Tail – Tigger finally found a home where his full Tiggerness is loved and appreciated …. and we’re bouncing with joy!
Walker
Walker’s Happy Tail – Walker, the 1st of Nessie’s litter to be adopted, gained a mom & dad, sister Nova (dog), teaching him the ropes, & Willie (his cat brother), showing him the ropes and enjoying wrestle mania! Walker’s the first ever to squirm his way onto the couch, and his pawrents decided it’s ok – he can be a couch boy!
Piglet & Ringo Star
Piglet’s & Ringo Star’s Happy Tail – Piglet and Tucker (FKA Ringo Star) are enjoying a wonderful summer with boat rides. They are so happy to be loved and want to encourage everyone to adopt from Bay Area Pet Adoptions because they find the best animals and homes for them.
Felicity
Felicity’s Happy Tail – Hazel (FKA Felicity) is doing amazing! We did do a name change to Hazel 🩷 She absolutely loves napping with her brother Apollo. She has picked up on all her training. Hazel loves being the center of attention and being able to run and sun bathe in the backyard.
Lucky
Lucky’s Happy Tail – Chipper (FKA Lucky) is the perfect addition to our family!!!! And he is so happy all the time. We feel as if he has been part of our family for years, and I look forward to his face in the window when I come home from work. Thank you for all you do!
Fox
Fox’s Happy Tail – Hello! I wanted to give you an update on fox! He has a new best friend (my roommates dog) and he has been going to the dog park with my mom usually 5 times a week! He has adjusted great and we love him! [As shown in the photo, Fox becomes the “Swamp Fox” as he motorboats ….mbmbmbmbm!]
Boots
Boots’ Happy Tail – Adopted in around 2019, Boots, now named Rosie, lives with a BAPA volunteer’s sister and is living a happy life.
Bubbles
Bubbles’ Happy Tail – Adopted in around 2019, Bubbles, now named Lily, lives with a BAPA volunteer’s sister and is living a happy life.
Rory
Rory’s Happy Tail: On June 2, 2024 we adopted Cocoa (formerly Rory). She is such a blessing and I wanted to thank you for letting me adopted her. Your description of her on your web page was so very accurate … you said she will be happy if she can see out and be a nosy neighbor. That is so accurate and her beautiful ears pop up to listen in on everything. She has made friends with the squirrels in my back yard and loves the freedom of her pet door.
Mabel
Mabel’s Happy Tail: Mabel is such a good puppy dog!! She is fantastic! We love her! Great riding in the car. Super calm all the way home from Houston. Got her home and she was super excited! She did get into a bit of a spinning fit running around the yard. But it seems like she was just a bit of stir crazy. We walked her and then ran her a couple miles and she calmed right down. First day when we were at work she just cruised the yard most of the day (on backyard camera) and seemed pretty happy with herself 😀). She also ran 7 miles with us in the morning, no sweat. She has way more in the tank but we need to builder her up slowly. She loves to play tug and acts all tough and growlly 😀, it’s pretty funny. She has also claimed the giant bean bag chair for her bed 😀
Sinatra
Sinatra’s Happy Tail: Spaceman Spiff (fka Sinatra) has come out from his timid/shy shell and turned into quite the character. He was adopted after we lost our beloved Calvin and his originally cream fur has darkened & developed stripes; he has morphed into Calvin’s doppelgänger in looks and personality (hence justifying his name). He follows me around like a dog, cries when I’m behind a closed door, & loves to snuggle. He’s a true blessing indeed!
Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle’s Happy Tail: I fell in love with Kimba’s (fka Milk Thistle) pale blue eyes & sweet personality @ BAPA while she was still nursing her litter (she was brought in pregnant). The 2-3 month wait was well worth it as over time here at home, she has blossomed (poofed out!) into our Glamour Shots model of a cat. She remains sweet & playful and gets along with our kitty crew. She loves to play with toys and rolls over for belly rubs!
Lionel
Lionel’s Happy Tail: Things are going pretty good. We call him Bandit and he went to the vet last Saturday. Everything was fine. He went to the groomers today and did well there too. I just can’t believe someone gave him up. He loves taking car rides and does well in the car.
Fozzie
Fozzie’s Happy Tail: It’s been one year since I fostered-to-adopt Fozzie, now adoringly known as Harold, so I thought I’d share an update: Harold has brought so much joy to my home with his special personality – he’s a lover, he’s a wild man, and he’s hilariously afraid of the dark. We start every day with a handshake followed by a treat agreeing that it’s going to be a good day. Harold loves to play tug-of-war, snuggle, guard the house from lizards, and take long walks. Thank you for trusting me to give him a good home – and thank you for all that you do for our animal friends.
Trout
Trout’s Happy Tail: He is the sweetest boy and we are so lucky to have him at home with us. He has found his voice and likes to bark at squirrels like his brother and sister. He is starting to play with toys and he comes out of his shell more and more every day. He loves morning time and bedtime the most. He loves to eat. He loves his treats and is now taking treats out of our hand. He doesn’t love to get a bath, but he loves when we pet him and at bedtime, I am usually petting him to sleep. he is an angel and we love him so much!
Gordo
Gordo’s Happy Tail: Good morning, I wanted to update you on “Oliver” (Gordo) — he is adjusting well and is a happy sweet boy. I love him so much!! He went for a bath and haircut yesterday. He was so happy afterwards! Thank you all so much! God Bless!
Charlie
Charlie’s Happy Tail: Today, Charlie turned 15 years old. I adopted him from y’all nearly 11 years ago. I wanted to let you guys know that he is still going strong, even though he doesn’t walk as much as he used to. He is young at heart and a big brother to his sisters. He has helped one of our other dogs acclimate to being a tripod like himself.
Babbs
Babbs’ Happy Tail: “Daisy” is perfect! Believe it or not she learned sit 🤣 for a Pom Pom that’s amazing. She loves car rides, and now has her own booster seat.
Mistletoe
Mistletoe’s Happy Tail: Mistletoe (now Matcha) is doing well! She’s chewed through a few toys already, and I just bought some more for her. I’m planning on making the appointment with the vet for her soon! She loves naps on the couch and tummy rubs.
Nico
Nico’s Happy Tail: We are doing well. She seems to already have grown! She is walking well on the leash and has only had 2 accidents with her potty, and usually tells us when she needs to go outside. She has not yet gotten used to sleeping all by herself but we take turns sleeping in the living room by her crate to get her used to it. She’s funny about barking. She never barks at dogs outside, but she does bark at the dogs on TV. And once at her own reflection in the sliding door. We love her and are so glad we found her at Bay Area Pet Adoptions.
Smith
Smith’s Happy Tail: We wanted to share some photos of Benji, formerly “Smith,” so y’all can see his sweet face. Noah, the pup I got from y’all 12 years ago, is totally in love with Benji and showing him the ropes. I had to hand feed Benji for the first couple of days, but yesterday he finally ate out of his bowl! He’s coming along quickly. He was obviously the missing piece to our family.

Our Mission
The mission of Bay Area Pet Adoptions is to shelter companion animals that we have rescued from kill shelters/animal control facilities and individuals until permanent homes are found for them. Our adoption program strives to place the animal with a family whose lifestyle and activity level matches that of the animal.
Bay Area Pet Adoptions provides education and community outreach, focusing on ways to reduce the number of unwanted companion animals and their euthanization. We educate about the daily care and responsibilities of a family pet, including the importance of spaying/neutering, proper vaccinations, and the prevention of heartworms and other parasites. We also provide information on resources available to the community for low-cost spay/neuter assistance and all other medical care. We also offer a low-cost vaccination clinic by appointment.
